State medical license

Virginia physicians apply to the Virginia Board of Medicine through the Department of Health Professions. Virginia is not an IMLC member.

VA requires medical school graduation, postgraduate training, USMLE/COMLEX passage, and primary-source verification.

Controlled-substance registration

Virginia does not require a separate state-level Controlled Substance Registration beyond the federal DEA registration. Virginia prescribers must register with the Virginia PMP.

Medicaid enrollment

Virginia Medicaid (Cardinal Care) enrollment is administered through Virginia Medicaid Provider Enrollment.
